The Nonprofit IT Project capitalized on synergies among
nonprofit IT needs, the community engagement goals of the University of Louisville’s
undergraduate programs, and the fundamental issue of how to sustain IT services
within nonprofits that do not fund IT adequately. The goals of the partnership were as follows:
- To improve the effectiveness and
efficiency of IT use among nonprofit and charitable organizations.
- To provide undergraduate students with a
broader and richer set of experiences that develop their IT and business
skills.
- To create a model of affordable IT
services for nonprofits.
Overall, the project demonstrated substantial
progress with respect to the first two goals; details are provided in the IT Services section and the IT Service Engagements section. Progress with the third goal,
creating a model of affordable IT services, was impacted by recent economic
conditions. The model was created, but
it was not feasible to implement IT service fees. |
